Riddle #43: Closer to Home

Yes, the riddle took a break last week, but it's back now. Here it is:

A company in a large city had 60 employees. The company was fairly centrally located, and the employees lived in all different directions: north, south, east and west. Their homes were located all over the city, and some even lived in the surrounding small towns.

The CEO decided to relocate all 60 employees to another single new corporate headquarters location. After the move, all of the employees were closer to home. How could this be?

NOTE: The correct answer has been guessed. To read it, see the comments section.

  1. Eric says that at first they were all on the 50th floor, and now they are on the first floor. Therefor being closer to home.

Carri thinks that he moved the corporation to Home, Washington.

  2. The new location was so far away that they all had to move to different houses in a different city.

  3. That being said, I liked Eric's answer better than mine.

  4. Eric is correct! In fact, I'm wondering if he can read my mind. Those are the exact floors I was going to say! The offices were on the 50th floor and they moved to the first floor. So since everyone lived in a house or an apartment that was lower than the 25th floor, therefore everyone was closer to home. Good job! (And I thought this was going to be a tricky one.)

Carri, your answer is cute, and Old Fashioned Liberal, yours took some thought too.
